Inspection - Walkway

Wednesday, 13th June 2007. I join QA Manager doing Inspection for the installation of Walkway at Emergency Zone in Tunnel. We start our inspection around 10.00am. During the inspection, Myself, Roy (QA Manager),James (Draftmen)and Contractor going to the site. We need to inspect all 13 walkway that have been installed along the Tunnel. The length of Tunnel is 1.1 km.
During the inspection, I learn a lot about technical esspecially how to check the thickness of coating, the way they do coating, how many layer of paint that should be used and other. While having inspection, we also can test the walkway and make sure it suitable and can be used during emergency.
This walkway is put on the top of ceiling but underneath firstfloor and normally known as softfit. Walkway will be hang on top of the steel platform. Walkway can be categories as steel structural and need do some joint either using nuts or will be weld to the platform. Good and nice walkway at platform should be adjustable by changing the weight that control it.
